Effective Lumens VS Theoretical Lumens
When selecting LED work lights concerning the output of lumen, you have to know what it is. You should check the lumen output mentioned on the information sheet or the packaging.
So anyway, there are three measures such as effective (measured), cold, and theoretical lumen. Out of all three, effective lumen output is beneficial.
In simpler terms, the gross value is termed as theoretical lumen output while net value is Effective lumen output. You might encounter a difference of gross and net value, between 50-70%, so be considerate of it.
Price
If your concern is price or both price and lumen output, you have to pay more attention to your buying decision. You have to make your comparison carefully.
This is more important if you don’t know the lumen output mentioned on the information sheet or packaging.
There are chances for you to get unexpected lumen output.
Color Temperature
Color temperature above 6000 K, which is high, emits cold white light. This has a higher chance of creating eye fatigue.
This color temperature will not let you work for a long time. Additionally, this color reflects on small particles, rain, snow, and dust, so it’ll increase the difficulty.
Operating Temperature
You can enjoy under, over, and reverse voltage protection from LED work lights. They operate within the 9-33 voltage range and temperature from -40°C – +80°C.
Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)
You’re likely to experience radio interference if you purchase LED work lights with low to no EMC.
If you encounter problems like PC blackout, it’s because of EMC issues. The worst you can experience is the halting of the mobile machinery.
However, if you come across these issues, you can hold the company or the person who decided to purchase these LED work lights accountable for the costs and repairs.
Vibration
If you buy LED work lights without trialing them out and if they don’t put up with the mobile machinery vibration or uneven ground, this might cause bracket cracking. PC components also may get affected if the LED work lights don’t function.
Waterproof IP Rating
The “IP” (ingress protection) along with two numbers display the protection rating. The first digit indicates the solid ingress protection level, and the second digit indicates the liquid ingress protection.
IP65 or higher is considered the best for outdoor lighting as they are designed to counter water and dust.
Light Quality
If you encounter shadows, circles, hotspots, and different color temperatures, the light quality is poor.
Usually, eyes are concerned about the brightest spot, like hotspots. Shadows irritate your eyes, and the sight turns out limited then.
Light Beam Pattern
The ‘wide flood’ isn’t as great as you assume. It could be narrow and so offers limited illumination.
