Vibration Testing

Salt Spray Chamber

The salt spray chamber sprays salt on the light. Components as well as lights are given a spray of distilled water mixed with salt in the chamber.

The process helps in checking the endurance of light to corrosive effects.

Normally white rust is considered to be harmless. The test gives a positive result if there are chances of white rust appearing.

If rust from iron oxide appears, it can be detrimental. Because this rust can very well affect the working of the lights in a negative manner. There is a trend for using some other form of coating for the lights.

This coating has been found to be better at corrosion than prior adjustments. This type of testing can be done using the salt spray chamber.

Dust Testing

Dust is prevalent in farmlands, mines, and on areas of heavy vehicles. The lights must be able to maintain dust resistance capability in such areas.

The dust tests are done to ensure the proper working of lights. For that matter, lights are also well sealed.

This way lights are exposed to the vacuum and also dust is dissipated away.

There are some guidelines available at the international level for dust testing.

The tests determine the degree of vacuum as well as the dust grains.

The test can very well be performed within the vicinity of one’s home.

Goniophotometer & Integrating Sphere

This is when the character and the distribution of lights are tested. The length and width of the light beam are measured with the help of a goniophotometer.

The light is also measured using different angles. It also tells the propagation of the light beam.

The information obtained from these sources helps in sharing different descriptions, like:

Luminous intensity
Luminous flux
Half value angle

The temperature of the color of light and colour rendering index is also recorded with the test. It shows the emulation of the light considering the optimal nature of light.
