What To Do If Your Light Bar Has Fully or Partially Stopped Working
A light bar enhances the visibility of a vehicle at night on rural sites, or in remote areas. If your light isn’t working properly, there are a few possible reasons.
We do not recommend disassembling your light at any stage of troubleshooting. Doing so will void any warranty on the item/items.
What To Do If The Light Bar Does Not Work?
1. Connect the light directly to a 12VDC power source to confirm that it is not defective. Connect the light to the vehicle’s battery or similar power supply.
Make sure to connect after unplugging it. If the light is working normally, there must be a problem with the wiring, so go on to the next step;
2. Ensure that the switch is on, verify that it is still receiving power (the light will illuminate).
3. Make sure there are no loose wires in the wiring harness.
4. Inspect the earth/ground to make sure it is still solid.
In the case of a light that has failed to fire up through a direct power source, the problem lies with the light. For more information, please use our warranty form.
What To Do For Partially Working Lights
Whenever your LED light bar works partially below are some methods you can use to figure out what’s wrong.
Unresponsive Earth
Bad earth is usually the main cause of partially illuminated lights. Changing the chassis ground to the battery’s negative terminal is the best way to test whether the earth is defective.
You cannot tell whether you have bad earth by checking the voltage at the light connector.
As it is possible to have 14v+ at the light connection yet still have bad earth. This ultimately leads to poor input power.
Vehicle Batteries Need To Be Checked For Voltage
Generally, this is caused by low voltage. You will either see a dimming effect or an alternating LED pattern if you go below what the light requires.
Charge or replace the battery to fix this problem. Verify that all wiring has been connected correctly to end any weak points.
Thanks for pointing out that the issue with the dimming light bar must be due to low vehicle batteries. This reminds me of police and emergency cars that need to have a working lighting fixture or signal. I could imagine how they must consider purchasing new car lights to effectively send messages when on the road.
